Xiao Jie is a student waiting for her acceptance letter to further her studies. In the meantime, she spends her day by volunteering at the metro station and sketching. Her father works at the metro line hub center where they monitor the trains and CCTV.
Xiao Gao is an adopted boy who does many part-time jobs to earn a living. If you remember him, he was the cupid boy from the first couple's story. It was strange seeing him here again as another character but we shall see why a little bit later.
These two would always see each other at the metro station, but they are always on the opposite platforms. Xiao Jie would know which day he will appear with a bag of dog food even. It was kinda creepy because she was sort of stalking him hahah!! But she didn't know that Xiao Gao also noticed her a long time ago. One day he decided to come over to her platform. Upon seeing him move, she also started to follow him... (on the opposite side) This is where is cute part when both of them passed each other on the stairs to swap platforms. Hahaha, it was a silly moment as he was going to her platform and she was heading to his platform.
Both of them met again later when Xiao Jie needed to deliver some items to her grandfather. Xiao Gao is the part-time delivery boy. Apparently, in Taiwan delivery guys also deliver people (as in a motorcycle taxi ride) as well as goods. :D
Her grandfather is the same man who repairs old fountain pens from the first couple's story. And he can actually talk! He just pretends to have difficulty talking so he doesn't need to answer his customer's questions. What the...
When they reached her grandfather's house, Xiao Gao tried to ask Xiao Jie if she wanted to know his name but she just smiled. Later, he drops her back at the metro station and this time he had the courage to run after her and introduced himself. The two soon became close friends and started dating.
Xiao Jie submitted her sketches to the publisher, but her sketches were turned down because they were too abstract. Xiao Gao encouraged her and gave the suggestion to use the metro line as a concept. With the stamps at various metro stations she could draw the objects there. The idea was refined further with the theme of love and couples at the metro line. Hence explaining this whole drama series, "Metro of Love."
There was no time frame explained (or maybe I missed it) so it's unclear how long it was in-between when Xiao Jie's father passed away and Xiao Gao disappeared for awhile. Xiao Jie thought she was left all alone until she realised Xiao Gao could be at the hospital. Indeed, he fell into a coma. But it was during this time that Xiao Jie's sketches were published and she has red hair.
It's a happy ending for both of them, Xiao Gao awoke from his coma and this is where he said he had a weird dream of being cupid. So I'm guessing this is how they tie up from the first couple's story.
Overall thoughts?
This third couple is cute and sweet. Their love story is something like a first love...Cute, innocent, sweet kind of romance. There was one thing though, I didn't really like the female lead character. She's supposed to have lost her mother since birth, but the way she behaved was like she just lost her mother recently. Maybe because she was spoiled by her father and grandfather from young. The part where she said she didn't want to be home alone, she knows very well that her father is working hard of course he wouldn't have time to spend with her. And not wanting to pack and move, it just seem a bit immature for me.
Also with this third story, you'll realise the actual character that runs throughout all six stories is this girl, Xiao Jie. The girl with the red hair. She didn't make an impression on me from the first and second stories, I only remember her as the b*tchy looking girl standing around in the train, temple etc. Sorry, just not liking her character very much...
The metro line concept is really strong in this third story; from their cute encounter at the opposite platforms to the hub center and volunteering at the stations. The entire drama series concept title is explained clearly.
Hello and Good-bye, sweet memories in-between. I'll have to say good-bye to the cute cupid boy... :'(
