Shopping King Louis Episode 6 Food recap

Episode 6

1. Ramyeon, Coffee and Popcorn - Louis moves in with Mr Cha to save Bok Sil's job... Also in exchange, Louis requests Mr Cha to buy the latest fridge for Bok Sil...

2. Fish skewers and Tteokbokki (Rice cakes) - Louis was criticising the street food vendor's food... Lol @ the seller's face...

3. American style breakfast - Mr Cha prepares breakfast for Louis... Wow, that looks so delicious!

4. Some ice-cream, junk food and ramyeon - Damage control at Mr Cha's house when Louis and In-Sung decides to hang out there and made a huge mess... @ . @ ...

Louis gets a day job at a loading bay, instead of making money he spends it all on pain-killer patches and is too tired to move anymore... Yes Mr Cha, Louis treats everyone like his maid... :P

5. Warm milk and convenience store food - I dislike Ma-Ri and those high school girls... what a scary bunch.... The cafe where Ma-Ri meets Bok Sil was pretty nice...

Best scene? The running Louis with all the pain-killer patches on his body! Seriously I have no idea why K-dramas love the male lead running across town just to save someone... (I've seen this in Big drama too) The song is cool though, it made me search for Queen!

Another cool discovery? The cafe where Bok Sil meet the high school girls to get info on her missing brother... I just realised it's the same cafe in Let's Eat 1! Where Goo Dae Yeong and Chief Lee were chatting after she resigned...

Thirty Something review

Drama name: Thirty Something
Country: Taiwan
Year: Dec 2015- Early 2016

Wow, this is actually my first Taiwanese drama! 2016 is the year where I start watching Korean and Taiwanese dramas for the very first time... It has been quite an eye-opener. I realised I'm becoming a drama junkie... :D

So what's this drama about?

It's about a lady named He Mei Liang (Pronounced Herr Meiii Liang) who turns 30... She wants to be an angel to everyone on her birthday but things didn't go as expected. Her dad gets into an accident and she meets two guys, You Zi Jie (Insurance Broker) and Pan Wei Kai (Chief Pan- Attorney/ Legal affairs) She works as a sales person with her aunt selling medical equipment, but in two years she has yet to get any sales. Just when she thought things will get better after her dad wakes up, she is landed with a debt of NT$20M (not sure how much in USD) because her dad stood as a guarantor for an uncle. That uncle committed suicide and the debt has to be paid. Her aunt fires Mei Liang and cut ties with Mei Liang. Mei Liang joins the insurance company where You Zi Jie and Pan Wei Kai works. The story goes on with both guys falling for Mei Liang and Mei Liang trying to find her way in life.

Overall thoughts?

It's an okay drama. It deals with some of life's issues like job struggles, family life, relationships and a bit about the insurance industry. The chemistry between the cast is very nice. They seem to make the story flow quite well. I didn't like Mei Liang's dad and also the aunt. Han han, You Zi Jie's daughter is really cute and pretty but supposedly she is about 7 years old? (In the drama) But they seem to treat her as if she was only about 4- 5 years old... It was a bit disturbing for me... Also, Mei Liang's transformation from wearing specs to contacts... it's rather a cliche kind of thing in dramaland, once the female lead takes off her glasses she transforms into a beautiful woman and all the guys fall for her... (-_-")

Best parts of the drama?

If you have been reading my posts for awhile now you'll probably know that I always watch dramas for the background! ;D Yes, I love the interior spaces featured in this drama. From You Zi Jie's apartment to their office building and the cafes in Taiwan. Really nice designs.

You Zi Jie & Wen Huei's apartment/ townhouse: (Mei Liang & dad lived on the rooftop later)

Their insurance company building/ office: The outdoor/ indoor atrium is a cool feature

The cafe and the bar where Wen Huei wants the divorce papers from Zi Jie

Classy restaurant Pan Wei Kai takes Mei Liang to sort of confess his feelings for her (Lol)

Another restaurant where the ex-es meet... Awkward moment right there...

Some of other the cafes featured: Akuma Caca Cafe, E.R.C. Cafe, Jing Coffee

Fashion

There is quite a lot for the fashionistas in this drama. All of the characters dress very well. I especially love the guys' jackets and suits. :D

You Zi Jie

Pan Wei Kai

Conclusion

I was rather surprised at the ending. Mei Liang didn't end up with any of the guys. It was sort of an open ending type of ending. You Zi Jie's ex-wife Wen Huei passes away from cancer. It was a teary episode for me (Onions everywhere! ;D ) Although I must note in the last episode I actually thought Mei Liang was going to end up with a new guy, the owner from Jing Coffee! He's quite cute... ;DDD

Shopping King Louis Episode 3 Food recap

Episode 3

1. Hot Fish cake soup, Strawberry Smoothie/Frappe & Hotteok - Hotteok sounds nice.. Korean pancake!

2. Louis's usual breakfast - Grandma has no appetite, Louis's butler suggests having Louis's usual breakfast of rice and side dishes (all organic!) and the butler nearly got his butt kicked by Grandma's assistant! Haha...

3. Convenience store food/ Market food - While Grandma was eating Louis's usual breakfast, Louis is enjoying himself with street food. The irony! ;D Bok Sil and Louis eating at the market place there reminds me of Goo Dae Yeong in Let's Eat 2... I think it's the same fried Mung bean pancake...

4. Grilled pork belly - Also seen in Let's Eat 2! I think it's a common meat for grilling/ outdoor cooking in K-dramas haha! But damn, I really hate the mother and son... they ate all the meat...

5. Real chocolate desserts - Oh man! This made me drool... Again, iced Americano! The cafe interior is pretty cool too...

6. Fried egg & Doenjang stew - Bok Sil prepared lunch for Louis before going to work and that freeloading guy is eating Louis's food again! Grr...

7. Food variety - The freeloader fantasising Louis in various scenarios in hopes he can strike gold...

8. Mr Cha's mum's plum preserve dishes - Haha, poor father... He doesn't dare to tell his wife that her cooking totally sucks!!

9. Some noodles - Looks like black bean noodles. Made by the freeloading mother and son...

10. Grilled Ham - Bok Sil decides to grill some ham after seeing Louis not having an appetite..

Shopping King Louis Episode 2 Food recap

Episode 2

1. Fried egg toast - Oh wow, that is one delicious looking breakfast! If that food truck was available over here I'll be buying from that lady! Louis's reaction is totally me.. :D

2. Coffee/ Panama Geisha coffee - I had to Google that! It actually does exist...

3. Maxim Gold coffee - I Googled that too... Apparently it's a Korean coffee. I thought I heard of it before, maybe when I was young that time. Gotta ask my mum if we did have Maxim coffee over here last time...

4. Ramyeon bowl - Hahah!! This was my favourite part because of the two boys' expression! I'll probably stare like that too...

5. Maxim coffee (Again!) - Not complaining, I get to see Mr Cha's office again!

Shopping King Louis Episode 1 Food recap

When W ended, I was like, "Oh man... what to watch now??" Well, Shopping King Louie stole my heart straight away. I'm very much a sucker for comedy and light-hearted dramas... esp modern day setting dramas...

So, what's this drama about? Briefly, it's about a rich boy named Louis living in Europe and his favourite past-time is shopping. Yup. He has a very rich grandmother who owns an empire, which is a department store named Gold coin... (or something like that) Grandma falls sick, Louis flies back to Korea and evil uncle wants to kill him to inherit the empire. But as you all already know, plot twists and Louis ends up losing his memory and meets this rural girl named Bok Sil. Bok Sil came to the city to look for her lost brother and bumps into Louis as he was wearing her brother's jacket. She decides to care for Louis in hopes that he will regain his memory to find her missing brother...

Alrightty then... enough of the story... What about the food in this series? I kinda got hooked by doing the Let's Eat 2 food recap before this... so now it's a habit of mine to notice the food featured in dramas... :D

Episode 1

1. Rice and side dishes for breakfast - Some grilled fish, raw prawns?!

2. Side dishes - Mr Cha's mum prepares all the food but he doesn't eat them. I can understand why... what the heck is that black blue thing??!!

3. Bok Sil's rice ball & Mr Cha's fav food: Ice-cream - It's my fav too! ;)

4. Korean/ Japanese food

What other notable things from this drama? Why, the interior of course! ;D Louis's chateau, Grandma's house in Korea and also Mr Cha's apartment... His office is awesome as well...

Best scene? Grandma of course!! My preciousssss.....
